Kristoffer Reitan held off playing partners Jayden Schaper and Golf News columnist Dan Bradbury on a nerve-shredding final day of the 2026 Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player to secure his second DP World Tour title.

Reitan began the day with a commanding five-shot lead but left the door wide open for the chasing pack as he struggled for consistency.

The Norwegian mixed four birdies with three bogeys on the front nine to hold a four-shot lead at the turn but, as he parred the first five holes of the back nine, Schaper and Bradbury closed the gap to two.

Reitan piled further pressure on himself as he bogeyed the 15th to sit just one clear but managed to hang in there, parring his way home to close out a wire-to-wire victory by one shot.

His level-par 71 saw Reitan finish the tournament on 17 under par, one clear of home favourite Schaper and Englishman Bradbury.

Reitan made a shaky start on Sunday morning as he bogeyed the first but got the shot back from close range on the second.

Another bogey followed at the third before he rolled in a 13-foot birdie putt on the fifth to lead by three shots on 17 under.

Having been unable to save par on the short seventh, Reitan bounced back with a long-range birdie at the eighth before making another from close range on the ninth to turn in 35.

But as Reitan fought hard to avoid dropping shots on the back nine, Schaper and Bradbury found the birdies they required to eat into his lead.

And when Reitan bogeyed the 15th after failing to get out of the rough with his third shot, the chasing pair were just one back.

But Reitan regained his composure and parred each of the final three holes to keep his playing partners at bay and add a second DP World Tour crown to the one he won at the Soudal Open in May.

He said: “I don’t know what I’m feeling right now. I had a lot of nerves today.

“But to get it over the line in the end is a better feeling than I can describe.

“I’m trying my best to deal with nervousness, fear. It’s really, really difficult. I’ve managed to do that really well ever since mid-season last year.

“It just keeps getting increasingly more difficult, but I’m glad to have dealt with it in a good way and get this over the line. That means so much. I’m so pleased.

“I’ve been feeling nervous all week, to be honest, but it just kept getting increasingly more. And today was a different story.

“You can maybe tell on some of the shots that I hit as well.

“I’m just really glad to get it over the line and to get the courage to hit the shots that I needed to hit down the stretch here especially.”

Reitan has enjoyed a stellar 2025, earning dual membership with the PGA TOUR after a season in which he won his maiden DP World Tour title in Belgium.

He added: “I’m very proud of myself. Very proud of my whole team as well. I’m very demanding and they help me out the best that they can. Just ask my caddie!

“But yeah, I’m definitely proud of myself and I’m happy to be able to say that.”

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen saved his best until last as he fought off the challenge of Major Champion Cam Smith to claim his maiden DP World Tour title at the 2026 Crown Australian Open.

Neergaard-Petersen began the day with a two-shot lead but was tied with home favourite Smith as the pair made their way down the 18th.

After missing the green, the Dane faced an uphill battle to save par but he rose to the challenge, getting up and down courtesy of a nerveless ten-foot putt to pile the pressure on Smith’s par putt.

And with Smith unable to find the cup, Neergaard-Petersen celebrated a one-shot victory, the latest chapter in his remarkable story.

The 26-year-old finished the week on 15 under par after signing for a closing 70 which contained four birdies and three bogeys.

Smith was alone in second on 14 under, one ahead of South Korea’s Si Woo Kim in third.

Details – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure – Portugal’s largest golf course management company – will have the honour of launching this year’s MENA Golf Tour after Tróia Resort and PGA Aroeira were revealed as the opening two venues of the new season.

The two resorts near Lisbon, part of Details’ portfolio of 12 golf courses, will launch a new ‘Portuguese Swing’ that is part of a revamped MENA Tour schedule that will also include tournaments in Egypt, Morocco and Jordan before the season reaches its finale in the Middle East.

The 2025 schedule will begin with two new qualifying schools played over 36 holes, Q Series 1 and 2, which will be held at Tróia between November 18-22.  Q Series 1 will take place on the resort’s renowned Robert Trent Jones Jnr-designed course from November 18-19, with Q Series 2 being played from November 21-22 and featuring a prize fund of $50,000.

Scotland’s golfing hero Robert MacIntyre was crowned king of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the iconic 18th green at St Andrews after taking route 66 to the title.

MacIntyre, the pride of Oban, won his fourth DP World Tour event and his second in Scotland exactly seven days after starring for Europe in the magnificent Ryder Cup victory against the United States at Bethpage Black.

He said: “It’s brilliant, a special win, and as a Scotsman there is no other place I’d want to win more than St Andrews. I’ve won a Scottish Open last year, and now a Dunhill Links here – and also a Ryder Cup in between.

“The only thing that would top this is if I could win an Open Championship at St Andrews, so we’ll try our best to celebrate it tonight. Not sure how we’re going to do that after the celebration we had in New York last Sunday, but it’s going to be nice, especially with family having travelled over to watch me play today.”

HOME FAVOURITE

With huge home galleries cheering him every step of the way around the Old Course, MacIntyre shot a six-under-par 66 – his third 66 of an event trimmed to 54 holes due to the persistent high winds that caused Saturday’s scheduled third round to be cancelled.

MacIntyre is the first Scottish winner of the Dunhill Links since Colin Montgomerie in 2005 and only the fourth Scot to experience the thrill of holding the trophy aloft at the Home of Golf. Stephen Gallacher triumphed in 2004 and Paul Lawrie claimed the inaugural title in 2001.

Ever-popular Bob is now only the second Scot after Montgomerie to win both the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and the Scottish Open. Montgomerie won his Scottish Open title in 1999.

“To have my name on trophies that carry some of the great names in golf is really something special and as a kid I used to watch events like the Dunhill and dream of being able to play in them.

“And I’ve loved to come to St Andrews. I’ve been coming here with the family for years, sometimes just to walk on the beach and to be in the town rather than to play golf. But the whole place is golf heaven and I will always play here whenever there is a tournament on.”

RUNNING ON FUMES

MacIntyre also joked about becoming Dunhill Links champion after arriving back in Scotland “running on empty” and with few expectations following the hype and pressure of an away Ryder Cup.

“To be honest I don’t know how I’ve done it this week. I’ve done everything against the book. I came here just wanting to enjoy it and try to play well but I only pitched up on Wednesday, played just 11 holes or so on the Old Course and have done everything this week that I would not have done in a normal week.

“And it’s not just been no real preparation, although obviously I know the three courses well. My diet has not been good either this week – I’ve eaten plenty of fish and chips and other takeaways. Nor have I done any of my gym work.”

MacIntyre picked out the second of his three 66s as the key to his victory, a tour de force at Kingsbarns to defy heavy rain and strong winds that forced play to be suspended just after he had finished his round.

“All three rounds were important, of course, but Kingsbarns was the round that could easily have got away from me,” he added. “I even shocked myself with that 66. It was unbelievable. I know the level that I can play at, but I do keep shocking myself at times but to go out and do it this week and get over the line this week is very special.”

MAJOR FOCUS

As for the future, next April’s Masters at August is a massive focus now for MacIntyre. “It’s no secret that it’s Major Championships now that I want,” said the world No 9.

MacIntyre won by four shots from his fellow Ryder Cup hero Tyrrell Hatton, who shot a seven-under-par 65 at St Andrews to finish on 14-under-par.

Another Englishman, John Parry, was a further stroke back on 13-under-par alongside South Africa’s Richard Sterne, while the other two members of Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup team to play this week – Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood – both finished on nine-under-par.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is a celebration of Links golf, played over the Old Course St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, three of the greatest Links courses in the world.

With a prize fund of US$5 million, the Alfred Dunhill Links incorporates two separate competitions – an Individual Professional tournament for the world’s leading golfers and the Team Championship in which the professionals are paired with amateur golfers which creates a unique atmosphere.

CELEBRITIES

Among the celebrity amateurs playing were Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bill Murray, Matthew Goode, Ronan Keating, Tom Chaplin, Dave Farrell, Mike Rutherford, Huey Lewis, Piers Morgan, Peter Jones, Andy Murray, Wayne Gretzky, Kelly Slater, Steve Redgrave, A.P. McCoy, Kevin Pietersen, Allan Lamb, Mark Nicholas, Michael Vaughan, Schalk Burger Jnr, Morné du Plessis and Rob Louw.

This is the 40th year that Alfred Dunhill has supported golf at St Andrews – first in the Alfred Dunhill Cup from 1985, then in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship from 2001. During that time, many millions have been raised for charity.

In June 2011 the Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation was established as the official Foundation of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The Foundation is committed to developing young amateur golfers in Scotland and South Africa and also supports the University of St Andrews and the St Andrews Pilgrim Foundation, which refurbishes and preserves historical monuments in the town.

Charley Hull captured her third LGPA Tour title after overhauling world no.1 Jeeno Thitikul on the final hole of the Queen City Championship at TPC River’s Bend in Ohio.

Both Hull and Thitikul reached the final green in two shots, with Thitikul putting her first putt inside six feet from the cup. Hull missed her eagle chance, but Thitikul slid both her birdie attempt and her putt for par, which would have forced a play-off, past the hole. It left Hull a two-foot putt for birdie and victory, which she converted to seal her first LPGA Tour win since 2022.

Hull closed with a final round 68 to finish on 20-under-par and collect the $300,000 winner’s prize.

“I wasn’t really watching her putt for birdie because I thought she was going to hole it,” said Hull, who had finished runner-up in her previous two starts and now moves to eighth in the world ranking. “I guess it’s not over until the fat lady sings, but I was shaking over that last putt because I just didn’t expect it. But yeah, it feels great.”

England’s Lottie Woad finished third, one shot behind Thitikul, to secure her highest finish on the US circuit since turning pro earlier this season, following wins at the Irish Open and the Scottish Open on the Ladies European Tour.

Ahead of jumping on a plane to serve as a European team vice-captain at the Ryder Cup in New York, Alex Noren claimed his 12th DP World Tour title as he defeated Adrian Saddier in a play-off to win the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

The Swede, who famously carded a final round 62 to win this event in 2017, started the final round in a share of the lead with Saddier as he sought his second victory in the space of just three weeks after winning last month’s Betfred British Masters at The Belfry.

The 43-year-old held a one-stroke lead after the front nine, but Saddier hit back after the turn as he carded four birdies coming home. Noren birdied 12 and 13 and the pair matched each other with gains on the par-five 17th as they moved to 19 under with one hole to play.

They both made par on the tricky 18th to force a play-off, and on the first extra hole – with the rain pouring down in front of a full house – they went blow-for-blow down the left-hand side of the formidable par five. Facing tricky chips, Saddier went over the green and was left with a tricky downhill putt, while Noren hit his attempt to three feet.

Saddier missed his putt on the low side, with Noren making no mistake with his birdie effort to seal the victory and move ahead of Robert Karlsson and Henrik Stenson to become the Swede with the most victories in Tour history.

Speaking just hours before joining his European Ryder Cup squad members on a flight to New York, Noren said: “I love it here. This tournament is unbelievable. I told all the guys in the States to come over here, and many of them did. I think it’s one of the best tournaments in the world and it just gets better every year.

He added: “It was such a tough back nine in those conditions – when you’re just waiting for the rain to come. Adrien played very well, and I thought the leaderboard was kind of stacked the whole way down to 13, 14. It just kept going.

“You know, you’ve just got to fight. Sometimes it comes too easy and sometimes you’ve just got to fight and today it felt like a fight. I think he [Saddier] probably outplayed me tee-to-green. But that’s how it goes.”

Aaron Rai and Patrick Reed shared third place on 16 under, while Ryder Cup trio Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton and Viktor Hovland tied with Ewen Ferguson, Darren Fichardt and Si Woo Kim a shot further back in a share of fifth.

Grant Forrest cruised to a second career victory on home turf, claiming the Nexo Championship in Aberdeen by four shots.

The Scot, who captured his first DP World Tour title at St Andrews almost exactly four years ago, mastered the blustery weekend conditions at Trump International Golf Links to take charge of the tournament.

Starting Sunday’s final round with a three-shot cushion, the 32-year-old briefly saw his advantage cut to two after Todd Clements birdied the opening hole. But when Forrest responded with a birdie at the fourth and Clements stumbled to a triple-bogey eight on the same hole, the gap ballooned to five — and Forrest never looked back.

The world No. 294 went on to add two more birdies against a single dropped shot before a double-bogey at the last, signing off with an even-par 72 for an eight-under total.

“It’s amazing — just speechless,” Forrest said. “It’s the same week on the calendar as my first win four years ago, so maybe there’s something about this week, and being at home, that makes it special.”

“I just can’t believe it. It’s been such a tough year on the golf course. It’s just a crazy game that you can go and come out and do this, with what feels like out of nowhere.

“It’s just that old chestnut that one week can turn things around and it has.”

Joe Dean nervelessly parred the last to claim solo second at four under, with John Parry one shot further behind alongside Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan and Denmark’s Jacob Skov Olesen

]]>
Andrew Marshall leads the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship at the halfway stage of the Legends Tour’s flagship tournament, after registering the first sub-70 round of the week at a windswept Trump International in Aberdeen.

The Englishman sits at two-under after 36 holes, one ahead of Spaniard Carlos Balmaseda who eagled his first hole of the day on his way to a gritty 71. Despite the organisers having brought forward a number of tees and slowed the greens to mitigate the strong winds, the duo are the only players under par.

Former champion Peter Baker is third on +1 after a battling 71, alongside Sean Whiffin. Former PGA Tour player Bo Van Pelt is at +2, along with Maarten Lafeber and PGA Professional Damian Mooney.

Overnight leader Michael Jonzon was going along nicely at -3 as he headed for the turn, but a catastrophic 11 at the par-four 9th – with three lost balls off the tee – put a serious dent in his challenge. Credit to the Swede, though, as he made it home in level-par from that point onwards to sit at +4 and tied for 10th, just six back.

Marshall had no such drama in compiling a stunning round of 69 in extremely challenging conditions. He opened up with five birdies in his first seven holes and was steady thereafter, despite dropping a couple of shots on the back nine.

“I knew I was playing well,” said Marshall. “I got off to an incredible start, and I just didn’t think too much about it, just kept hitting the ball and it was going in. I just hit less club, put it in play, and I could see a lot of people tearing their hair out because they’re hitting driver trying to pick up shots. I just tried to poke it down the middle and accept that four is a good score on any hole.”

After numerous near-misses, including three top-fives last season, Marshall is now 36 holes from a maiden Legends Tour title. “I’m currently in the lead, which is a bit daunting, but it’s what you dream about isn’t it? If I can play anywhere near like that and can keep making fours and not three-putt too many times, it should be very interesting. Unfortunately, it’s not a sprint to the finish tomorrow, so I’m just going to hit the ball low, keep it out of the wind, keep putting well, and if you can finish under par, I think you win.”

Winning the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship is something that Peter Baker knows all about, having memorably claimed a six-shot win in 2023. The former Ryder Cup player also emphasised the importance of finding fairways as he carded an impressive 71 to sit just three back.

It’s very satisfying to shoot under par today,” said Baker. “I’m driving it pretty straight and hitting some second shots close. I had a good run in the middle of the round, lots of chances and made one or two. Par on any hole is a good score so very happy.

“I bogeyed the 11th, my second hole of the day, and then on my third I got a bit of a flyer out of the rough and went over the green. Hit a decent chip to about 15 feet and then holed it. Even so early in the round it felt important and I hit a lot of good shots after that.

“I don’t mind if the wind blows really, it’s up to you to just keep going, playing one shot at a time as it can get away from you very quickly around here. And if you do miss a shot you’re just trying to limit the damage. It’s not getting any easier so it’s just about having a chance come Sunday.”

As the only regular Legends Tour event with a halfway cut, Friday at the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship is a day of extra tension and jeopardy. Host Colin Montgomerie narrowly missed out but his fellow Ryder Cup captains José María Olazábal and Paul McGinley both battled their way through, as did Major winners Rich Beem and Shaun Micheel, along with 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie who sits at +6, tied for 22nd.

With 15 places in the field for PGA Professionals who qualified via the Senior PGA Professional Championship, this event provides an incredible opportunity for club Professionals to compete with Major winners and Ryder Cup players. Of the 15 who started the week, no fewer than 10 managed to make the cut, with Ireland’s Damian Mooney handily placed at +2, just three off the lead.

Play continues on Saturday, with tickets available for both Saturday and Sunday at www.legendstour.com or on the gate.

The 2025 PGA Championship is set to takes place this week at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. This marks the second time the course has hosted the event, the first being in 2017 when Justin Thomas secured his maiden major title.

Quail Hollow is renowned for its challenging layout, especially the final three holes known as “The Green Mile.” This stretch includes a 506-yard par-4 16th, a 223-yard par-3 17th with a peninsula green, and a 494-yard par-4 18th. These holes are considered among the toughest finishing stretches in golf.

Rory McIlroy enters the tournament in excellent form, having recently completed the career Grand Slam with his Masters victory.

RORY’S TRACK

Quail Hollow has been a favourable venue for McIlroy, where he has achieved four wins and ten top-10 finishes. His success is attributed to his exceptional driving and long-iron play, skills that are particularly advantageous on this course.

The field comprises 156 players, including top contenders like defending champion Xander Schauffele, world number one Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith. Notably, Tiger Woods will be absent as he continues to recover from surgery.

For viewers in the UK, live coverage will be available on Sky Sports, starting at 1pm on weekdays and 3pm over the weekend.

Bryson DeChambeau 10/1
Known for his power game, DeChambeau recently secured a LIV Golf win and was runner-up at last year’s PGA Championship. His aggressive style could pay dividends at Quail Hollow.

A consistent performer on the LIV circuit, Rahm is seeking to translate his form into major success. His all-around game suits the challenges of Quail Hollow.

NOTABLE OTHERS

Ludvig Åberg 20/1
The young Swede has been making waves with his impressive play and could be a dark horse in this major.

Collin Morikawa  20/1
A two-time major winner, Morikawa’s precision and composure make him a threat, especially if conditions favor accurate iron play.

Brooks Koepka will be looking to win his fourth PGA Championship

Brooks Koepka 33/1
A proven major champion, Koepka’s experience and mental toughness could see him contend if he finds his rhythm.

Jordan Spieth 40/1
Still chasing the career Grand Slam, Spieth’s creativity and short game prowess could be advantageous at Quail Hollow.

Quail Hollow’s challenging layout, particularly the infamous “Green Mile” closing stretch, promises to test the mettle of all competitors. With a blend of seasoned champions and emerging talents, the 2025 PGA Championship is poised for an exciting showdown.

Marco Penge secured his maiden DP World Tour title with a brilliant final-round 67 to win the 2025 Hainan Classic by three shots.

Starting the day tied for the lead with home favourite Bowen Xiao, the Englishman briefly trailed a surging Sean Crocker at the turn.

However, a sensational run of three consecutive birdies at the 12th, 13th, and 14th holes saw Penge pull clear of the field and wrap up an emotional victory at Mission Hills Resort Haikou.

The 2023 HotelPlanner Tour Number One finished the tournament at 17 under par, carding seven birdies and two bogeys on Sunday.

Crocker and Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan shared second place at 14 under, while Denmark’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen finished another shot back.

Penge, who secured his full DP World Tour playing rights with a clutch performance at the Genesis Championship last October, was overcome with emotion after his breakthrough win.

THANKING NETWORK

“This obviously means the world to me,” he said. “It’s something I’ve always dreamt of — winning on the biggest stage. After my time off over the winter, it was the thing I wanted to prove to myself and to everyone, to show what a player I am.”

He was quick to pay tribute to his support network, adding: “My caddie has been my rock through it all, and I wouldn’t be where I am without my wife and my whole team. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

Reflecting on the personal side of his journey, Penge shared: “We spend so much time away from home. All of us lads are doing this for our wives, our families, our kids.

To be able to say I’ve won on the DP World Tour when my son is older and can see that – to be a hero to him – that’s everything.

Before I teed off, I watched some videos of him laughing and smiling, and it gave me that inner strength I needed today.”

The victory capped off an incredible stretch for Penge, who also booked his place in next month’s US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club by finishing third in the Asian Swing standings.

Japan’s Keita Nakajima topped the rankings, with Eugenio Chacarra second and Penge third — all three securing their spots in the second major of the year.
