The Buckinghamshire has announced the appointment of broadcaster Henni Zuël as its new Golf Ambassador, strengthening its profile as one of the leading private golf estates in the UK.

Zuël, a former Ladies European Tour professional and now one of the most recognisable voices in the sport, will also represent the Arora Group’s wider portfolio of golf and hospitality destinations. These include Fairmont Windsor Park and Ryder Cup candidate venue Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa.

Arora Group Partnership

The partnership brings together a prominent figure in global golf with one of the UK’s largest family owned businesses. The Arora Group has continued to expand its presence across championship golf, luxury hospitality and modern private membership.

Zuël’s role will see her acting as an ambassador across the group’s golf properties while supporting its long term vision for premium sporting and lifestyle experiences.

Return to The Buckinghamshire

For Zuël, the appointment marks a return to a venue with strong personal significance. In 2012 The Buckinghamshire hosted the Ladies’ British Masters, where she competed in her first home championship as a professional.

That week proved memorable as she stayed locally, played in front of friends and family and shared the first round lead with Dame Laura Davies, one of her childhood idols.

“I’ve always felt at home at The Buckinghamshire,” said Zuël. “From my first home championship here to today, this club has been part of my journey in golf. I’m thrilled to represent a place that stands for exceptional golf, hospitality and community.”

Membership Vision

The Buckinghamshire promotes what it calls Membership Reimagined, offering access to a championship golf course, a restored 17th century country house and high end hospitality close to central London and Heathrow Airport.

The club regularly hosts major qualifying events and is known for combining elite playing conditions with a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.

Women’s Golf Focus

As the home of the Ladies European Tour, The Buckinghamshire continues to play a central role in women’s professional golf, staging top level competition and supporting the future growth of the game.

Leadership Reaction

Sanjay Arora, chief executive of Arora Group, welcomed the appointment. “Henni’s experience as both a broadcaster and former professional makes her an ideal ambassador as we continue to develop world class golf and hospitality across our portfolio,” he said.

Gerry Ivers, managing director of The Buckinghamshire, added: “Henni is one of the most influential figures in modern golf. Welcoming her back as a member and ambassador reflects our commitment to supporting the sport and setting new standards for contemporary members’ clubs.”

The Buckinghamshire welcomed generations of talent – past, present and emerging for the 2025 Rose Ladies Series finished in style at the historic country estate.

The transformed course and clubhouse, which re-opened last year following an investment of more than £10 million, provided the perfect venue for some of the UK’s top female players, including four-time major champion Dame Laura Davies and Ladies European Tour winners Carly Booth and Meg MacLaren.

The tournament featured two of The Buckinghamshire’s own rising stars, teenagers Ellie Lichtenhein and Saskia Owen, who have progressed from the club’s thriving scholars and junior sections to reach international level.

PROUD CLUB

Sanjay Arora, President of The Buckinghamshire and Chief Operating Officer of the Arora Group, said: “Hosting a Rose Ladies Series event has been a wonderful opportunity to support women’s golf, and it is fitting for the series to finish here, at the home of the Ladies European Tour.

“It’s also been fantastic to showcase the transformation of The Buckinghamshire on an elite stage. We are incredibly proud of the way this beautiful venue has been restored to its best, creating a contemporary, family-friendly private members’ club on London’s doorstep.”

Gerry Ivers, The Buckinghamshire’s Managing Director, added: “It was a terrific day, made all the more special by Ellie and Saskia competing. We are very proud of our scholar and junior sections, and to have supported these two hugely talented players for the last seven years. Their progress has been shaped not only by our programmes and coaching but also by the encouragement and support of the wider membership.

“Both have very bright futures in the game and their achievements are very inspiring for everyone connected with the club.”

FIVE SUCCESSFUL YEARS

The Rose Ladies Series started in 2020 when Justin Rose and his wife Kate wanted to give playing opportunities to female professionals during the pandemic.

The concept has gathered momentum every year since then, and this year comprised five one-day events at top UK clubs, each with a first prize of £10,000 – the largest of any men’s or women’s one-day event in the country.

Kate Rose, who was at The Buckinghamshire on Friday and presented Hannah Screen with the winner’s cheque, said: “It was a fantastic day to finish the 2025 Rose Ladies Series, and we certainly did that in style at The Buckinghamshire – a stunning venue with a beautiful clubhouse. Thanks to Gerry and all the team there for making the day such a success.”

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE INVESTMENT

The Buckinghamshire last hosted a Rose Ladies Series event in 2021. Since then, it has been exquisitely renovated by the Arora family as part of their wider plan to develop a portfolio of world-class golf venues.

The golf course has been reconfigured and renovated, enhancing its natural beauty, and the finishing holes are overlooked by the Heron’s Bar and patio – perfect for enjoying post-round drinks or long, sunny lunches.

The clubhouse now boasts luxury amenities that encapsulate the club’s vision of ‘membership reimagined’, including a stylish Orangery restaurant, iconic Whisky Room, spacious lounges and locker rooms and seven beautiful bedroom suites.

Just 10 miles from Heathrow and within easy reach of central London, it has been designed to be a home from home, whether members are golfing, spending time with family, lunching with friends or business contacts or spending the day working.

The Buckinghamshire Golf Club welcomed VIP guests and members to the grand reopening of its 17th century house on May 3 following an investment of more than £10 million.

The transformation of the historic country estate just 15 miles from Central London 10 miles from Heathrow Airport is part of a major investment to create a prestigious private members’ club on London’s doorstep – and signals plans by the Arora family to develop a portfolio of world class golf venues.

Sanjay Arora, President of The Buckinghamshire and Chief Operating Officer of the Arora Group, said: “This is a dream come true.

We wanted to do something very special here, to bring this beautiful house back to its best and create one of the finest golf estates and contemporary members’ clubs in the world.

Today, with the support of a wonderful team, we have realised that dream and begin an exciting journey here at The Buckinghamshire and beyond, as we seek to grow our golf portfolio.”

Alongside Sanjay Arora for the ribbon cutting was his father Surinder Arora, property and hotel entrepreneur and former co-owner of Wentworth Club, and Chairman of the Board KP Singh who, for five decades, led India’s largest real estate developer DLF and founded DLF Golf & Country Club in Delhi.

The stylish interiors give the clubhouse the feel of a London private members’ club

As the doors opened at The Buckinghamshire, members were invited to wander through the exquisitely renovated house and explore new luxury amenities, including a stylish contemporary orangery restaurant, wine bar, whisky room, lounges and locker rooms, and seven new bedroom suites.

Following a golf course reconfiguration and the switching of front and back nine holes, the comforts of the Heron’s Bar and patio awaits members, with views over the finishing hole and River Colne, making it the perfect place for post-round drinks and long lunches.

Sanjay Arora reserved special thanks for Kim Partridge, the acclaimed designer who has overseen the transformation of The Buckinghamshire’s interiors.

“Kim has perfectly realised our vision for ‘membership reimagined,’ celebrating the house’s finest classical features while creating relaxed, comfortable, contemporary spaces for our members to enjoy,” said Sanjay Arora.

“While the golf course is the centrepiece of the estate, the house is the heart of our club and whether members are golfing, spending time with family, lunching with friends and business contacts, or spending the day working”

“The house has been designed as a home-from-home in a relaxing environment, surrounded by natural beauty.”

The Billiards Room

Arora confirmed that further investment was being made in the golf course in 2024/5.

As a world class private members’ club, The Buckinghamshire, which is also home to the Ladies European Tour, is set to become the centrepiece of a growing portfolio of golf clubs and destinations within the Arora Group.

Plans to develop a new golf course at Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa, less than 50 minutes’ north of Central London, have already been approved as part of an official bid to host a future Ryder Cup.

The Buckinghamshire Golf Club is on course to unveil a multi-million pound renovation of its historic clubhouse this spring which will form the centrepiece of a ‘reimagined’ members’ club.

The project to restore the landmark 17th century mansion situated on an island alongside the River Colne includes the addition of seven new bedrooms, an orangery restaurant, valet parking & locker lounge, work spaces, golf lounge with the latest simulator technology, wine room and whisky room.
The interiors have been created by designer Kim Partridge, who oversaw the interior transformation of 2027 Ryder Cup venue Adare Manor in Ireland.
For Sanjay Arora, Chief Operating Officer of the Arora Group, which acquired the property in 2018, the vision is to create a contemporary upmarket club offering UK and overseas members the opportunity to blend golf, business, hospitality and family time, just 15 miles from west London and 10 miles from London Heathrow Airport.
Arora said: “This is an important first step towards our vision of creating one of the finest clubs in the world. The Buckinghamshire is a diverse, cosmopolitan club for business and pleasure, where members can enjoy the pleasure of being expected and their guests and families can experience first class hospitality, personalised service and relaxed style.”

Speaking about her design inspiration for the project, Kim Partridge said: “While we wanted to echo the Englishness of this classic country house, the brief in relation to the club and member experience is avant garde, providing a place where the touch points offer understated luxury, where members feel at home and can spend time with friends and family.
“We are also offering members the ability to work from the club, which we’ve been able to do discreetly. We’ve created lots of spaces, tables, connectivity, but also comfort, so you can work from the warmth of a leather wing chair and enjoy all the amenities of a working space. All of these things will make The Buckinghamshire different and put the club at the forefront of the new face of golf.”
The Buckinghamshire, which has a rich heritage of hosting professional tournaments, including qualifying events including for The Open, AIG Women’s Open and US Women’s Open, is to remain the headquarters of the Ladies European Tour.

Local player Gemma Dryburgh won the third Rose Ladies Series event at The Buckinghamshire Golf Club on July 2.

With a round of three-under-par 69 in changeable weather conditions, she edged a stroke ahead of Georgia Hall and Cara Gainer. Lily May Humphreys, Amy Boulden, Charley Hull and Annabel Dimmock tied for fourth.

Dryburgh, who lives in nearby Beaconsfield, bogeyed two of the first three holes before picking up her first birdie on the par-5 fifth. From there, she birdied the eighth, but dropped a shot at the short ninth to go out in 37. She then made four further birdies on 10, 13, 14 and 16 to come home in 32. The highlight was a slam dunk birdie on the 10th, which turned the momentum in her favour.

“I was one-over through nine and then I hit it in the bunker on 10 and I wasn’t very happy about that so I chipped out and then I holed it from the fairway,” Dryburgh said afterwards. “I had three more birdies after that, so it was a good back nine.”

Dryburgh, who earned her first professional win at the 2017 Oatlands Classic on the ALPG Tour, continued: “It means so much. I haven’t had a win since 2017 so it’s very nice to win again and it was a very good field as well, so it’s very special.”

Reflecting on the Rose Ladies Series so far, and a return to competitive golf ahead of the LET season, she added: “It’s been amazing and we’re getting to play at some great courses. It’s an honour to play at all of them. It’s great to get to see such strong fields and have a card in the hand again. It’s not quite the same as a social round, and it’s definitely good to get a card in the hand and get the competitive juices going again. It’s definitely different, so it’s good to get back into it.”

Moor Park will host the second event in the new Rose Ladies Series

Justin Rose is to sponsor a new seven-tournament Ladies Series for British women’s professionals in England, starting at Brokenhurst Manor in Hampshire on June 18.

Rose claims he and his wife Kate felt compelled to ‘step up and help’ British women’s golf after learning about the efforts of Ladies European Tour star Liz Young and resident PGA Professional Jason MacNiven to run a ladies’ event at Brockenhurst Manor.

After the one-day tournament at Brokenhurst Manor, the series will move to Moor Park GC (June 25), Buckinghamshire Golf Club (July 2), Royal St George’s (July 9), JCB Golf & Country Club (July 16), and Bearwood Lakes (July 23). The venue for the final event on July 30-31 has yet to be announced. None of the venues are charging a fee to host the tournaments.

“I am keenly aware that I now have the opportunity to go back to work and compete on the PGA Tour, but this is not the same for the ladies and some junior tours as well,” Rose said. “I am sad that the Ladies European Tour has been suffering so badly, and doesn’t really have a start date yet from what I know. To me this seems somewhat unfair, and my wife Kate and I felt there was an opportunity to step up and help.”

He added: “It would be fantastic if anybody else with the influence and opportunity could push for and promote something similar in their countries, because there are so many talented ladies across the continent and world who are in limbo.”

Rose, who also sponsors the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship, added: “The prize money is modest because it is me throwing in some money and then the ladies are paying an entry fee, but we wanted to give them the opportunity to play and to be ready for when the opportunities arise later in the summer.”

The Ladies European Tour has recently cancelled the Evian Championship in France, which was due to take place from August 6-9, and details of the rest of the season’s schedule have yet to be announced.

Arora Hotels, one of the UK’s largest private hotel owner-operators, has announced its acquisition of The Buckinghamshire Golf Club, a move which will see the hotel group expand into the world of luxury sporting and leisure venues.

Arora Hotels will take over the management of the Denham-based club, which is also the headquarters of the Ladies European Tour, and has pledged to use its luxury hospitality experience to reinvigorate the club, providing a new and enhanced experience for its members.

18th Hole - 2016 - CopyCommenting on the acquisition, Sanjay Arora, Director of the Arora Group. said: “We are delighted to announce the addition of The Buckinghamshire Golf Club to Arora Hotels’ portfolio of luxury properties. It is a stunning golf course with fantastic potential for future development, and as a keen golfer myself, I will take great pleasure and pride in having this as part of our portfolio and welcome our new colleagues to the group.”

He added: “Our team is hugely skilled in running luxury global brands and providing premium customer experiences, and we look forward to extending this expertise to the world of leisure and sports hospitality.”

Situated 18 miles from the centre of London, and 12 miles from Heathrow, The Buckinghamshire comprises an 18-hole championship golf course, Grade II-listed clubhouse, and mansion house (the Denham Court Mansion). The resort can also cater for meetings, events, incentives and weddings.

The course, which first opened in 1992, was designed by renowned architect and Ryder Cup captain John Jacobs, who turned the estate’s rolling parkland into a mature and challenging golf course. The quality of the layout and its handy location for London has seen the club attract numerous professional events over the years, including the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters for four consecutive years from 2012, while soon after it first opened it was a regular stopover for top European and Senior Tour events, staging the Senior Tournament of Champions from 1996-2000, and the Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf European Final in 1997. For the last two years it has also hosted a sectional qualifier for the Women’s US Open.

The Buckinghamshire was owned by Japanese brewing company Asahi from the outset up until the end of 2016, when it was bought by Eagle Resorts, which operates a portfolio of golf clubs in the UK, including Old Thorns in Hampshire, Tracy Park in Bath, Chart Hills Golf Club in Kent and Castlemartyr Spa & Golf Resort in Ireland. It was not disclosed how much Eagle Resorts received from the sale to Arora.

Arora Hotels operates multiple global hotel chains, including InterContinental Hotel Group, Accor, Marriot and Hilton. The group is currently redeveloping a luxury country house hotel and spa nearby in Windsor, and it has recently opened the UK’s largest hotel of 2018, the Crowne Plaza London and Holiday Inn Express London at Heathrow’s Terminal 4.
