ECCO GOLF has announced the addition of PGA TOUR star Aaron Rai to its elite tour ambassador lineup. A consistent performer on the global stage and a familiar face within the ECCO GOLF community, Rai joins the brand’s roster of ambassadors as one of the most exciting English talents in the game today.

Currently ranked inside the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking, Rai has established himself as one of the most accurate and composed players on the PGA TOUR, with a breakout triumph at the Wyndham Championship in 2024. A three-time DP World Tour winner – with victories at the 2018 Honma Hong Kong Open, the 2020 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, and the 2025 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship – he has also transitioned seamlessly to the U.S. circuit, where his steady rise and professionalism have earned widespread respect among fans and fellow players.

Rai’s relationship with ECCO GOLF is longstanding, and he has been wearing ECCO GOLF shoes by choice for many years, including throughout his recent run of form on the PGA TOUR. His belief in the brand’s craftsmanship, comfort, and performance innovation makes this official partnership a natural next step in an already strong connection.

“I’m thrilled to officially become an ECCO GOLF ambassador,” said Rai. “I’ve worn ECCO shoes for a long time, because they’ve always given me the perfect combination of performance and comfort. I’ve long admired the brand’s dedication to quality and innovation, and it feels fantastic to make our partnership official. ECCO represents everything I value – attention to detail, comfort, and build quality – and I’m proud to now be representing the brand on tour.”

Rai joins a diverse and world-class group of ECCO GOLF ambassadors, including Thorbjørn Olesen, Aaron Rai, Thomas Bjørn, Erik van Rooyen, Lydia Ko, Lin Xiyu, and Freddy Schott, among others.

Timo Vollrath, Head of Global Marketing at ECCO GOLF, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Aaron to the ECCO GOLF ambassador family. He’s been a great friend of the brand for many years, and his professionalism, humility, and consistency align perfectly with our ethos. As one of the world’s best players and a longstanding wearer of ECCO GOLF shoes, this feels like a perfect fit, and we’re excited to support him as he continues his career.”

England’s Aaron Rai secured his first PGA Tour victory after shooting an 18-under-par total to win the Wyndham Championship.

The 29-year-old from Wolverhampton closed with a 6-under 64 in the FedExCup Regular Season finale held at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina to win by two shots from Max Greyserman.

“It truly is a dream come true,” said Rai, who is a two-time winner on the DP World Tour. ”So many people have played a huge role in me being at this point.”

In addition to his brilliant play, Rai’s path victory was dealt a huge boost when long-time leader Greyserman threw away a four-shot lead in a single disastrous hole on the back nine on Sunday.

QUADTRUPLE BOGEY

The 29-year-old American, playing in his first season on the PGA Tour, racked up a costly quadruple-bogey eight at the par-four 14th hole after his tee shot hit a cart path and bounced out of bounds. He then found a bunker with his approach to the green with his second ball.

After losing his lead, Greyserman, who shot 60 in the second round – four-putted the par-3 16th from 40 feet to hand the advantage to Rai. The American eventually closed with a 69 for outright second on 16 under.

“If that [tee shot on 14] does not hit the cart path, we’re probably in a different situation,” Greyserman said later. “That doesn’t mean that that one bounce is the reason that I didn’t win. I played good enough to kind of run away with it, but obviously stuff happens in golf and sometimes it’s not meant to be.”

TWO ROUNDS IN A DAY

Sunday proved a gruellingly long day, with the entire field having to play 36 holes after play was washed out by rain on Thursday and delayed on Friday and Saturday.

Rai said he didn’t look at the leaderboards all day and didn’t know his standing in the tournament, even when playing the last hole, where he secured a birdie.

“I didn’t really look and didn’t ask to know that information,” Rai said. “I think that was probably a good thing that helped me just to focus on the golf. I was playing well and I knew that if I finished off well, then you never know what can happen.”

OVERDUE VICTORY

Rai’s first PGA Tour success has been a long-time coming, despite being a relative newcomer on the US circuit, having joined it full-time in 2021.

The 29-year-old had enjoyed six top-10 finishes this season coming into the Wyndham Championship, with four coming in his last five starts, highlighting a man in form.

This year he ranks fourth in Strokes Gained: Total, eighth in Approach, 10th in Tee to Green and third in Driving Accuracy. He has also made 17 cuts from 21 events.

The win moved Rai up to 53rd in the PGA Tour point list, qualifying him for the first event of the FedExCup, which begins at the FedEx St Jude Championship on Thursday (August 15).

Aaron Rai defeated Tommy Fleetwood in a play-off to win the ASI Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club.

The 25-year-old from Wolverhampton fired a final round 64 to set the clubhouse target at 11 under par, but Fleetwood holed a 20-foot putt on the last for a closing birdie to take the Rolex Series event to extra holes.

It was advantage Fleetwood off the tee in the playoff on the par-four 18th, as Rai found a bunker, but while Rai managed to salvage his par, Fleetwood three-putted from just off the green – his last from inside three feet – to hand Rai his European Tour title to go with the Hong Kong Open he won last year.

Rai’s victory comes a week after he finished second at the Irish Open, where he bogeyed the final hole when needing a birdie for victory. While the winner in Ireland picked up a cheque for £180,000, Rai’s reward in Scotland was a hefty £940,000, which moved him into third in the Race to Dubai rankings, and into the top 100 in the world for the first time in his career.

Speaking after picking up the trophy, Rai said: “It’s incredible. I played a lot in Scotland growing up, and dreamed of playing in a European Tour event in Scotland, so to be able to go still further and win here is an incredible feeling. I didn’t really see many leaderboards all the way around, but I knew we had to play well and knew we had to keep pushing forwards, but luckily I had a good couple of breaks and also played very well, so I’m very pleased.”

Fleetwood, who never held the lead, or a share of it, until the 72nd hole, said: “I hit a poor putt in the play off and that’s the end of it, really. Aaron played 72 holes very, very well, and it was his week. Congratulations to him. Looking back at the week, there were so many putts that probably cost me from winning, but that’s life and we try again next week.”

While Fleetwood will rue his missed chance, so will Robert Rock. The 43-year-old Englishman, who coaches a stable of players on the European Tour, missed out on the play-off by one shot after a costly bogey on the last in closing 70. A heavy touch with a wedge from the edge of green, when the shot was crying out for a putt, saw him miss out on a chance to add to the Dubai Desert Classic win back in ????  He finished tied third with Australian Lucas Herbert and Scotland’s Marc Warren at nine under, after rounds of 65 and 66 respectively.

Warren bogeyed the last to slip to nine under, a shot clear of Marcus Kinhult, Ian Poulter and Erik van Rooyen, with Padraig Harrington, Eddie Pepperell and Matthew Southgate, Victor Dubuisson and Kalle Samooja at seven under.
