Palmares Ocean Living & Golf<\/a>\u2019s landmark clubhouse \u2013 one of the most distinctive 19th<\/sup> holes in European golf \u2013 has been shortlisted for the coveted accolade of \u2018Europe\u2019s Best Clubhouse\u2019 at the annual World Golf Awards.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The acclaimed building, which enjoys expansive panoramic views of the Bay of Lagos, the Alvor Estuary and the 27-hole venue\u2019s nine-hole Praia loop, heads an impressive list of venues that have been nominated for the award, with the winner set to be announced at a glittering prize-giving ceremony in Madeira in November.<\/p>\n

CLUBHOUSE FACILITIES<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Opened in autumn 2020, Palmares\u2019 clubhouse was designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize winners RCR Arquitectes. As well as being a centre for all golf and real-estate concierge services, the clubhouse \u2013 built with red concrete and blending seamlessly into the surrounding environment \u2013 is home to two restaurants that serve both golfers and residents, including the Michelin-star AL SUD.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

AL SUD, which acquired its Michelin star in just five months following its opening and has retained it every year since, offers inspired Mediterranean cuisine with strong local influence under the culinary expertise of the resort\u2019s renowned head chef, Louis Anjos.<\/p>\n

Conjuring up contemporary fine dining with a creative touch, head chef Louis Anjos \u2013 who heads out of the kitchen to greet his guests in person \u2013 sources ingredients from the Algarve and its coastline to create an array of delectable dishes, including a well-balanced taster menu that gives special attention to seafood sourced daily from the auction in Sagres.<\/p>\n

Voted for by professionals across the industry including golf tourism executives, tour operators, travel agents and golf consumers, each venue shortlisted for \u2018Europe\u2019s Best Clubhouse\u2019 will be assessed across a number of set categories including the quality of facilities, customer service, visitor experience, architecture and design and location and setting.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Integrated into the natural amphitheatre of Bay of Lagos, Palmares\u2019 27-hole golf course \u2013 redesigned by the renowned Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 2011 \u2013 continues to set the standard as one of Portugal\u2019s premier golfing destinations.<\/p>\n

Featuring three distinct nine-hole loops \u2013 Alvor, Lagos, and Praia \u2013 the course gracefully descends towards the ocean, offering a unique and challenging experience for golfers of all levels.<\/p>\n

Palmares is one of nine golf courses managed by Details – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure \u2013 in Portugal, with others including Vilamoura, Aroeira and Vale Pis\u00e3o. In addition, the group manages 16 hotels across the country.<\/p>\n
