An exciting period of new investment will continue at PGA Aroeira Lisboa<\/a> next month when the iconic Portuguese venue begins a major renovation of its popular course, PGA Aroeira No.2.<\/p>\n

Having completed a significant upgrade of PGA Aroeira No.1 in 2024<\/a>, Donald Steel\u2019s classic design will undergo a similar makeover over the summer as part of the investment taking place at the Lisbon venue, which unveiled its new identity as PGA Aroeira Lisboa last October.<\/p>\n

Formerly known as Aroeira Challenge, the course, which is celebrating its 25th<\/sup> anniversary this year, will benefit from significant maintenance and quality enhancements to crucial elements including all tee boxes and bunkers.<\/p>\n

No stone has been left unturned in the quest to cement PGA Aroeira No. 2\u2019s status as one of the best golfing experiences in Portugal, with improvements also set to be made on fairways and greens as well as general landscaping and the course\u2019s five characteristic lakes.<\/p>\n

Cart paths and bridges across the layout will also be enhanced but, in keeping with Steel\u2019s original vision, the physical specifications of the layout \u2013 renowned as a stern test for players of all skill levels \u2013 and its routing will remain unchanged.<\/p>\n

PGA AROEIRA NO1<\/h3>\n

The refurbishment follows last year\u2019s similarly transformative overhaul of PGA Aroeira No.1, formerly known as Aroeira Pines Classic.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the resort\u2019s unyielding commitment to sustainability, state-of-the-art irrigation systems and drought-resistant Bermuda grass are being implemented across the 36-hole complex with a view to drastically reducing water consumption.<\/p>\n

Nuno Sepulveda, co-CEO at Details \u2013 Hospitality, Sports, Leisure \u2013 PGA Aroeira Lisboa\u2019s management company, said: \u201cFollowing the great success of Aroeira No.1\u2019s renovation last year, the plan was always to turn our attention to giving PGA Aroeira No.2 its own transformation in 2025 and work on this important project is now underway.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe PGA National brand is synonymous with quality both on and off the course, so the team at PGA Aroeira Lisboa has been working tirelessly to renovate, refurbish and elevate every aspect of the experience and upgrading Donald Steel\u2019s much-loved course is a key part of that process.<\/p>\n

Details – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure took over the management of PGA Aroeira Lisboa at the end of 2023 and is managing the golf, F&B, and daily operations of the only PGA National in Portugal, owned by Arrow Global.<\/p>\n
